Polar Charts in an XY ScatterPlot

This chart uses data from the Proceedings of the Yorkshire Geological Society, Vol.52 Part.4 page 358. It shows another interesting way of combining two chart formats; here we have an XY scatterplot using the OS grid reference as the co-ordinate system, with each marker being itself a detailed plot of the data at that site.

The polar style of plot used here is appropriate to data where the compass direction is one of the variables, or for cyclic time-series such as daily temperatures.
