Here are some of the additions to NewLeaf from January 1998:

• Groups (of paragraphs, tables, charts etc.) as logical units which will be kept together if possible
• Soft Hyphens in text and table headers
• Overlays to allow arbitrarily complex master pages
• Fixed text can now be written at any angle
• New classes for wrapping text and edged or shaded rectangles
• Metafiles are supported as master page classes, or in-line in text with optional wraparound
• Cell shading supported by List as well as by Spread
• Table Gridlines may now be set for each row of data (List and Spread)

Some other interesting changes are:

• Much faster setting of simple tabular data
• HTML and CSV output in parallel with main report
• Option to have NewLeaf generate unique names for the spool files (essential for Windows NT Server applications)
